Having not a lot of confidence in yourself will make your life very miserable, you won’t make any changes in your life, and you won’t take any opportunities and will result in you being stuck.
I used to not be confident in myself but over the past year, I’ve become more and more confident in myself.
Do you remember a specific time where you were confident? where did you feel no one could stop you? or you feel like you were on top of the world?
Well, you can feel like that but like all of the time.
Imagine how you will feel, imagine how your relationships and career would be, imagine how your health would be.
Confidence feels good, it helps you take more opportunities in your life and it also helps you make big changes to your relationships and your career.
In this blog, I’m going to go over 7 ways that you can be more confident in your life.
1. Stop Comparing Yourself To Others
Comparing yourself to others makes you lose your confidence in an instant.
It is so much easier knowing that we have social media.
The lack of confidence comes from a gap in where you currently see yourself and where you think you should be at the moment.
One way to stop this is to just stop comparing yourself to others altogether.
If you still feel like you need to compare, then compare yourself to your past self.
See how much progress you have made over time.
See what you have done right.
And see how far you have come.
If you somehow didn’t go so far or improved yourself at all then simply decide that you will improve yourself now. It is better to do it sooner than later.
I used to compare myself to others all the time, I didn’t have any confidence at all.
But once I stopped comparing myself to others and only compare to myself to my past self and looked at how much progress I made, I started to gain more confidence.
2. Think Yourself As Equal To Others
People with low self-confidence see others as better than them.
Instead of thinking in this kind of way, see yourself as equal to everyone else.
When you do this shift, you will notice that you have more self-confidence.
I used to have very low self-confidence.
I compared myself to other people a lot, I have seen everybody else as better than me and I didn’t take care of myself at all.
Once I thought of myself as equal to others, I have seen as me being equal to everyone else, I didn’t compare to others as much (I only compare to my past self), and I take better care of myself know.
3. Change Your State
Changing your mental and physical state is one of the quickest things that you can do to be more confident in your life.
To be able to do this, you have to know how the state of confidence feels, sounds, and looks like to you.
There are 3 strategies that you can do to access that:
- Visualize- visualize how you would feel to be confident. How would you be?, How would you act?
- Remember- Think of a time that you were feeling confident. Sink into that feeling and relive that moment detail by detail
- Model- Think about someone that has a lot of confidence and then imagine what that confident person would do
4. Take Action
When you are standing in an edge of something, waiting, wondering, worrying if you can do something, you start to lose your confidence in yourself.
Your fears will creep up as well and it would result in you doubting yourself.
To prevent this, take action.
When you take action and take a leap of faith, you will start to build more confidence.
One thing that you can do is to think of one thing that you can do at the moment that will start to move you in the right direction.
Then take action and do it and see what happens from there.
Once you see that something is working, it will keep the momentum going.
5.Acquire New Skills and Experience
Confidence is usually linked to abilities.
So, one of the best ways to build up confidence is to acquire new skills and experience which might involve getting out of your comfort zone.
Growing your skills and having more experience in something will make you have more confidence.
One thing to keep in mind is not to get the lack of perfection with the lack of ability mixed up.
nobody is perfect.
Just make sure that you get yourself too deep into this mindset.
6. Visualize Yourself As Being Confident
The brain doesn’t know what is real and what is not, so if you practice visualizing yourself being confident, then you will be more confident.
You have to do this routinely for a while, you won’t visualize once and all of a sudden you are the most confident person in the world.
It will take some practice and you have to repeat it a couple of times.
It is also important that you focus on the feeling of you being confident during the visualization.
Focusing on the feeling will speed up the process much more than just visualizing you being confident.
7. Do Something That Scares You
One of the best ways to overcome fear is by doing something that scares you.
When you are doing something that scares you about every single day, you will gain more and more confidence from every experience.
You will start to see that your confidence will skyrocket.
So you should get out of your comfort zone and face your fears so you can gain more confidence and experience.
The only person that can make you confident by the end of the day is you.
You decide to take some action and if it fails that you have a choice.
You can choose to be confident.
And can choose to be confident instead of fearing and having self-doubt.
If you tell yourself the same story that you are not a confident person at all, then you will have a lot of self-doubts.
But if you believe that you got this, and you can do it, then you will have more confidence in yourself.
Having a strong sense of confidence is crucial to have a better life.
Once you decide to be more confident and don’t settle with self-doubt, you will become unstoppable.
